INTERIOR/EXTERIOR

Aircraft cleaning involves much more than making an aircraft look good. The appropriate cleaning product helps remove contamination while minimizing the risk of damaging painted surfaces, plastics, acrylic windows, fabrics, carpets, metals and other aircraft materials. BAC's interior and exterior maintenance selection gives maintenance personnel and aircraft care professionals access to products for a wide range of cleaning and appearance applications.

Aircraft Exterior Cleaning

Exterior aircraft cleaning products are formulated for removing the contaminants encountered during normal aircraft operation and ground maintenance. Depending on the product, applications may include removal of dirt, grease, oil, insects, exhaust residue and other soils from painted surfaces, metals, composites and other compatible aircraft substrates.

BAC carries aircraft exterior cleaners ranging from routine wash products to specialty cleaners and degreasers. Always follow the manufacturer's directions for dilution, application, contact time and rinsing, and verify compatibility with the aircraft surface before use.

Aircraft Interior Cleaning & Cabin Care

Aircraft interiors require cleaning products appropriate for the materials and environments found inside the cabin. BAC's selection includes products for cabin surfaces, lavatories, carpets, windows, plastics, upholstery and general interior maintenance.

For routine aircraft interior maintenance, select the product according to the surface being cleaned rather than using a general-purpose household cleaner. Sensitive materials such as acrylic windows, plastics, upholstery and specialized aircraft finishes may require specific cleaning products and procedures.

Aircraft Glass, Plexiglass & Window Care

Aircraft windshields and windows require careful cleaning to help avoid scratching, hazing, streaking or other surface damage. BAC offers specialty products for aircraft glass, acrylic and plexiglass care, along with wipes and other cleaning supplies appropriate for aviation applications.

Use the cleaning method and products specified by the aircraft or component manufacturer whenever applicable. Avoid abrasive materials and verify compatibility before using a cleaner or polish on transparent aircraft surfaces.

Aircraft Cleaning Wipes & Towels

The right wipe is an important part of aircraft maintenance. BAC supplies aerospace-grade wipes, shop towels and other wiping products for cleaning, drying and surface preparation. Applications can include cockpit and cabin surfaces, aircraft windows, painted finishes, metal components and general maintenance work.

For applications where lint, fibers or residue can create problems, select a wipe specifically suited to the surface and cleaning process. BAC's aerospace wipe selection includes Sontara and other products used throughout aircraft maintenance and detailing operations.

Products for Aircraft Maintenance & Detailing

Whether the task is a routine cabin cleanup, aircraft wash, windshield cleaning, lavatory service or detailed exterior appearance work, BAC provides specialty products to support day-to-day aircraft care. Our selection is intended for use by aircraft mechanics, MRO facilities, FBOs, corporate flight departments, aircraft detailers and other aviation professionals.

Choosing the Right Aircraft Cleaning Product

Aircraft materials can vary significantly from one application to another. Before selecting a cleaner, polish, solvent or other surface-care product, identify the material being cleaned and review the manufacturer's instructions and applicable technical data.

• Identify the aircraft surface or component being cleaned.
• Check the manufacturer's recommended cleaner or maintenance procedure when available.
• Review dilution requirements and application instructions.
• Verify compatibility with painted surfaces, plastics, acrylics, composites, metals, fabrics or other substrates.
• Use the appropriate wipe, cloth or applicator for the surface.
• Follow applicable aircraft maintenance manual, component maintenance manual or other approved technical data.

Aircraft Interior & Exterior Cleaning FAQs

What cleaning products are used on aircraft interiors?

Aircraft interior cleaning products include surface cleaners, disinfectants, glass and plexiglass cleaners, carpet-care products, wipes, lavatory cleaners and odor-control products. The appropriate product depends on the surface and the aircraft manufacturer's maintenance requirements.

What is used to clean the outside of an aircraft?

Aircraft exterior cleaning may involve specialty aircraft washes, degreasers, bug removers, glass cleaners, polishes and other surface-care products. Product selection should be based on the aircraft's exterior materials and the manufacturer's approved cleaning procedures.

Can regular household cleaners be used on aircraft?

Do not assume that a household cleaner is appropriate for aircraft use. Aircraft surfaces can include specialized paints, acrylic windows, composites, plastics and other materials that may require specific cleaning products. Always verify product and surface compatibility before use.

What wipes are best for aircraft maintenance?

The appropriate wipe depends on the cleaning application and surface. Aerospace-grade wipes are commonly selected when low lint, cleanliness and reduced risk of surface marking are important. Review the manufacturer's recommendations for the specific application.
